Last couple weeks in review

Andrews Doctor appointment:
Weighs 11 lbs 9 oz. (wow, he is growing fast). Tears from immunizations...daddy calmed him. Prescribed Mylanta and Gas X.

Kristy's 6 week MD appointment:
I am good to go! I am only up 10 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight, yet the poundage looks more on my body. God has placed those 10 lbs in various places--it's crazy.

Daddy's Day off: Every Thursday.
Beautiful day! Andrew's first picnic, walk at Creve Coure Lake and a rest in the shade. Neighbors over for dinner and then Ryan and I for our first outting with out Andrew. We went for a 1/2 hour bike ride on our tandom bike while the sun was setting. It was romantic and fun. Andrew was a doll and didn't cry onece. Everyone keeps asking...yes, Biking was easier on my incision than walking.

To Wildwood Days
Sat. was a cool fall day. Went to the fair and Andrew was held by the Home Depot dude. Now it is time to put out the fall decorations.

Get to know Andrew party which was held by the church staff...fun games, good food, lots of ladies and a wonderful gift...a bike trailer. Thanks everyone! It will soon be pulled by our Tandom bike and we will be the "Peterson Train."


Nana and Papa came to visit
Andrew was so happy that they came to visit. He loved being held by Nana and Papa and was so sad when they had to leave.

First HAIR CUT!
Who would have known that he would have more hair than his daddy. Hee, Hee. Before his hair cut he looked like a little man with a comb over and now he looks more like our baby. We saved the evidence for his baby book.

Babka (Grandma Zeman) turned 60 years old!
Happy Birthday! We are going to Wisconsin in a week to help her celebrate. We can't wait!

Announcing the birth of Andrew...

We are announcing the birth of our son...did you know? LOL! Andrew is 6 weeks old and finally we are pulling things together. (Thanks to Jamie who designed the announcements...they look great).

I am slowly recovering from my c-section...not there yet. I still take things slow, don't stand up straight, and take Tylenol for the pain once in a while because of the tugging that I feel inside. We have only gone on a couple stroller rides (walks) because I only make it a 1/2 mile and then the rest of the day I need to rest. As Ryan keeps telling me, this is temporary and the more I rest the sooner I will feel better. I pray for patience every day. And on the other hand, I look at my handsome son and I know he is worth every pain. We love him so much.

First Football Game

Too loud at the Edward Jones Dome for Andrew. We tried cotton in his ears and then made a wise parenting choice that we didn't want to take a chance to hurt his little ear drums...Ryan and I took turns watching the game while the other hung out with Andrew in the lobby. We will have to wait until he gets older. We still had fun and went to Ted Drewes for ice cream!

My first "real" bath!

Andrew's belly button finally fell off (5 weeks after birth)--he wanted to stay connected to me for as long as possible. So, no more sponge baths and into the mini bath he went. He only cried a little; probably because he was so slick and it was hard for us to hold him. He is so handsome in his dog towel!

My First Cardinals Game!!

He was wide eyed the whole game looking at all the lights and learning how to be a true Cardinal fan! We had seats right behind home plate and Andrew was the main hit in our section--youngest fan there. Daddy was very proud of our little son and tried to teach him all the players' names.

Baptized in Christ

The service had begun, the baptismal gown was on, family was present and everything was in place on Aug. 12th, 2007. But our focus was on this...THE HOLY SPIRIT WORKING THROUGH THE WATERS OF BAPTISM!!!

We pray that little Andrew will grow to love and honor our Lord Jesus Christ. And with the help of his parents (oh, that's us), his God Parents (Aunt Amy and Uncle Chris), the Holy Spirit and the "big church" (that is YOU), that we would encourage and support this love for JESUS.

You are invited to the 10:30 am Sanctuary Praise Service at St. John Ellisville on SUNDDAY AUGUST 12TH 2007.

He enjoys getting his hair washed, as you can tell by the picture, so we bet he will be great during the spinkling.

Daddy has the honor to baptize him so don't miss it. We will also be using water that Nana and Papa Peterson brought from the Jordan River,in Israel.

If you come, Andrew will show you what he can do with his hair!

Update on Andrew. Aug 7th 2007

Thank you so much for all your prayers, they have helped. It has been a long road, but the end is in sight (I have been outside 2 times since I have been here, otherwise I have been spending time with Andrew). We are going home tonight after he receives his last antibiotic!!! We are anticipating this!!

At birth he weighed 7 lbs 14 oz, lost weight as normal and is now up to 7 lbs 10 oz. We are not able to take him out of the special care unit, so I have been breast feeding in the unit. The hospital has given us a "hospitality room" and we have access to the Ronald McDonald house (computer, couches, fridge, table etc)--the only anxiety is that they can kick us out at any time. (Oh, and Ryan says that the recliner is uncomfortable so we are sharing a hospital bed).

Update on Andrew and his infection

Thank you all for your prayers...God definitely has His hand at work in this situation.

In short, he has Group B Strep in his blood stream. (read the whole sentence before stopping)... "This is the most common cause of life-threating infections in newborns," BUT Andrew is fine.

I tested negative on my Group B Strep culture 4 weeks ago, but the MD says that the test isn't perfect and that this collinization can "come and go." Unfortunately I was not treated with Antibiotics prior to birth like they would have done if they were aware that I was positive.

We are very fortunate that Andrew was in the nursery the first night after birth because by 2am he had bad coloring and a high respiration rate, yet the staff picked up on these signs and by the time they woke Ryan and I up a chest x-ray was done, labs were drawn and he was started on 2 antibiotics. EARLY DETECTION IS WHY HE IS "DOING SO WELL" (and by the Grace of God).

He is monitored in the "Special Care Unit" (a nursery a step below the NICU) for the last 3 1/2 days. The good news is that today he gets to be in OUR room with us; off his monitors because he is doing so much better (yeah, private breastfeeding at last!).

The sad news is that he has to be in the hospital to receive his antibiotics until AUG. 8TH and I am discharged today. It is complicated because I am breastfeeding, and am not allowed to drive (d/t c-section and on a narcotic for pain). The best scenario is that the hospital gives me a Hospitality Room (We stay in a regular hosptial room, yet do not receive meals or nursing care). This will be determined on a day to day decision depending if there is an open room. So, hopefully we will be "living at the hospital" until next Wednesday so I can continue to breastfeed and we can bond with Andrew. Visitors welcome, just call Ryan's cell phone to make sure that we are here.

Andrew is the love of our life. He is adorable and we love to cuddle (all 3 of us). For all the support, prayers and love...we say thank you. We love you all!!

He is absolutely beautiful!! Prayers needed: He has to stay in the nursery for at least the next 48 hours--he has an infection (respritations are in the 80's, chest x-ray showed some "retained lung infiltrations," and white blood cell count is low--typically in adults it runs high with an infection). We are taking things as we go, although we are concerned.

The Nursery is Awaiting Baby Peterson

Boy or a Girl, this will be the baby's nursery. The circle paintings I did; just thought it would be fun to put a little touch a mommy in there (plus it gave me an excuse to bring out my paints). The walls will some day be filled with pictures of our cutie pie. We can't wait to meet him/her!

Our 4 year Anniversay

Well, it isn't until July 26th, but because of the unknown we seem to celebrate it and want to spend these last couple nights just with each other. We went out to the Melting Pot for good fondue. You know that we are loosing it when both of us forgot our wallets--opps (we gave the credit card number over the phone--the manager was nice--I think he felt sorry for us...pregnancy brain at it's finest!). We have also recently been to the wineries, to a wedding, to our deck for candle light popcorn party, etc.

Baby P. is very active (kicking me in the middle of the night is always fun!)and everyone has been able to enjoy the movement and kicking from the outside (seeing the baby move and feeling it).

Yes, we are nesting. It was a weekend of tasks so I could mark them off my list in preparation for our little one. We have an ultrasound tomorrow (Monday). Ta, Ta for now.

36 AND A 1/2 WEEKS AND COUNTING!!

Been experiencing Braxon Hicks Contractions which has been kind of exciting. We go to the Dr. tomorrow so hoping that goes well.

The ultrasound last week indicated that I am in th 92% for amniotic fluid and the baby is in the 94% for size...hense the fact that I am "measurring bigger" than I am "suppose to." If the baby grows until due date: Aug. 3, the MD is expecting a 8 1/2 to 10 1/2 lb baby. But only God really knows.

We have been...finishing the baby's room, going on romantic dates, we bought a new desk top and video camera, cleaning the house (We BOTH are nesting), went to Lamaze and breastfeeding class, going to baby showers and writing thank yous. A lot of time is spent preparing for Baby P!!!...daydreaming mostly.
